Mission of HopeSauble Christian Fellowship has been active in Haiti for a number of years now in partnership with many ministries, one of the main ones being Mission of Hope. Mission of Hope consists of a Medical Center, Orphanage, School, Church, and other ministries that minister to the people of Haiti with a goal of "Changing Haiti for Christ". For some time now one of the ways that we partner with Mission of Hope is by supporting on a monthly basis Rachel Montgomery.Rachel is originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario. She first went to Haiti on a missions trip in 2004 with Falls View BIC. The Hope House Orphanage children touched her life in a way she never expected. She soon enrolled in the Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) post-graduate program at Niagara College. Rachel returned to Haiti in 2005 and completed the teaching hours she needed to graduate by teaching ESL in the hallway of the girl’s dorm at the Orphanage. In August 2006, Rachel moved to Haiti full time to work with the children at Hope House. She originally came to teach English to the children but now serves as Associate Director of the orphanage where she helps with the daily ins and outs of running the orphanage, building relationships with the children and making sure they are raised in a God centered environment. She enjoys working with a wonderful orphanage staff, and loves the children dearly. She feels honored to play a role in each child’s life and to watch first hand as they grow into godly young men and women. Missions Overview
In the last meeting with his disciples while on earth, Jesus gave them what has become known as the Great Commission. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19 NLT) Some have called it the Great Command. As believers we are instructed to take the good news of the Gospel into all the world. The disciples began by starting in their home territory but soon were actively taking the Gospel to every corner of their world. We believe that we are also called to respond to the Great Commission by sharing both the message of the Gospel and compassion at home and abroad. We have found that as people become personally engaged in doing so it changes them and changes the DNA of our church. Our youth and adults regularly participate in mission trips to foreign lands, and we support missionaries and missionary projects through our denomination and other mission agencies. We partner with our local Salvation Army and a wide variety of other projects in order to address compassionate needs in our community. There is no limit as to what could be done, everyone can find a way to help live out this Great Commission.
Leprosy Mission CanadaLeprosy Mission Canada is another ministry that we support on a regular basis. We collect stamps throughout the year that is sent to them, which they are able to sell for cash. Ontop of this, we send in monthly support to them as well.If you would like more information on what Leprosy is, or how Leprosy Mission Canada is ministering to the needs, please visit the link below to be taken to their website.

SALVATION ARMY PARTNERSHIPThe Salvation Army has a long history and a proven track record of ministering to compassionate needs in the community. We believe strongly in their work and so we partner with them by providing financial support, encouraging the donation of food for the food banks, and providing volunteers to help with the Food Bank operation and other aspects of their ministry. The needs in our area are great and very demanding on the limited staff at the Salvation Army. This year, we have gone a step further and have decided to temporarily fund a full time resource to help with the workload. The 2nd picture shows Henry Sikkema working to unload a trailer full of supplies for the food bank.
Lindenwood MinistriesFor some time now we in Sauble Christian Fellowship have been working hand in hand with Lindenwood by providing volunteers and some financial support. Here’s a little background by Lindenwood’s chairman, Rev David Campbell and a progress report by Bob Huehn one of our volunteers at the project. Background: “Men are hard-wired to build things, create things and fix things. Most men find it difficult sitting around with nothing to do. Brian Costello was a man like that. He believed that church should be a place where men, as well as women, were enabled to make a difference in this world by putting their God-given talents to work for the betterment of humanity. Brian was a very practical man with a heart for young people in trouble. His vision was to build a home where these young people could come and seek refuge and healing, while at the same time being taught practical life skills so that they could function as productive members of society. He realized that government can only do so much, and there was a place for churches to step in and fill the gap. In 1998, a group of us formed a Board to fulfil Brian's vision. We acquired 80 acres at Grey Rd 17 and Lindenwood Road (hence the name Lindenwood for our centre). Sadly, before we were able to start building the home, Brian was diagnosed with cancer, and in 2003 he passed away. With the help of an enlarged Board, and with Bob Huehn from Sauble Christian Fellowship heading up the construction, we have made enormous strides toward completing a 3500 square foot home debt free and without having ever undertaken any active fundraising campaign. Captain Mary Millar of the Salvation Army in Wiarton, one of our Board members, continually reminds us just how enormous the needs are, how many young people there are in this area who are in desperate need, and how few resources there are to help them.”Progress Report:There’s been lots going on! In February and March Valerie Samson and her sister, Brenda, came several times to help paint the upstairs. The living room walls and ceiling, both stairwells and both upstairs bathrooms have since had their second coats of paint put on. Rods and shelves are presently being installed in the closets; doorways and windows are about to be trimmed out. The painting described as our number 1 priority project for 2011 is now done! Not only that, we have also received the funding to pay for all the paint & materials. Praise the Lord! Having these upstairs rooms in a nearly ‘ready to use’ state is very encouraging. Project 3, installing the Heat Recovery Ventilator system, has now become our highest priority as it is hindering other projects from proceeding. Inclement weather represents a great time for you to come out and help us with the trim work on the upper floor, or finishing the drywall of the main floor. Another volunteer has stepped forward and has expressed a keen interest in helping with Priority 6, the installing of the radiant heat lines. Anyone with expertise in the radiant heating field is also most welcome. With a strong burst of sustained effort, the whole character of the home could dramatically change by mid June. TytooTytoo! What is that all about? Actually Tytoo is an abbreviation of ‘Tytoo Gardens’, the name of a Christian Based ministry in Haiti. The name actually is taken from the boat that was a dream of the ministry’s founder Ed Hughes. He named his boat after one of his grandchildren named Tyler. Ed’s dream of a sail boat and sailing the world became a reality but eventually Ed ended up in Haiti with another dream, a dream of building a night club.I first remember meeting Ed and hearing his story at his place in Haiti several years ago. I’ve heard the same story since many times and never get tired of hearing it. It is the story of a man who pursued the good times and party life for the first fifty or so years of his life. In fact he was building on his latest dream a nightclub when God began to work in his heart through the local children. Ed could see that many of them were malnourished and needed both food and basic medical attention. He was reminded from his childhood Sunday School days of the stories of Jesus caring for the children. So Ed began to make changes in the children ‘s lives by bringing food and medicine and God began to make changes in Ed’s heart. Before long the night club project became an orphanage project, and Ed began to take in and care for the needy children. The program gradually expanded to the feeding of up to a hundred children a day, and getting them enrolled in a nearby school. Ed sought out the elderly in the village who were without any sort of social safety net and would bring them food. Before long Ed became more concerned with the children than the nightclub and the rooms once destined for parties became residences for needy children. To make a long story short, Ed eventually became a member of our church and our people sponsored a number of children and construction projects. Unfortunately Ed died in a tragic accident in 2009. Since that time we have attempted to keep his ministry going and growing. We have partnered with Kings Kids International out of Chilliwack BC, and supporters right across North America and even a couple in Europe who have grown to love the Tytoo Gardens ministry.I had the privilege of travelling to Haiti and participating in Ed’s funeral. It was an unusual and moving sight. A funeral attended by a handful of adults and hundreds of kids, many who were saying good bye to the only parental love they had ever known. Ed had become attached to us and we became attached to him as a family member. It is with great sadness that we grieve his passing but at the same time we rejoice in the precious hope that Ed is with the Lord. His life and passionate care for God’s children was and is a challenge to us. A challenge to do more, to live more sacrificially for the cause of the Kingdom. Ed is gone from this earth, but his legacy lives on, and his work will go on. We are determined to carry his work forward. So watch the video to the left to hear his story in his own words , check out the latest Newsletters, and if you would like to hear more about being a part of a mission trip to Tytoo or becoming a supporter please let us know.Newsletters

Mid October 2010, a group of believers from Kincardine area along with a sponsor group from Sauble Christian Fellowship began meeting Sunday afternoons for a time of worship in Kincardine. Starting out as an 8 week trial to test the waters of Kincardine and see if there is a need for an evangelical presence there, it has become evident that the need is great! Looking forward into 2011, times of worship are going to continue, believing that God is going to continue to grow this new congregation of believers and continue to bless it as we have already seen him do. If you are looking for a church to fellowship with, we hope that you will join us as we continue to meet and worship. Our prayer is that you will sense our heart for the community, and experience God's love and presence in our meetings.

A Note from our Worship Overseer“Everyone in the world is a worshiper. That is to say, we each have relationships or objects in our lives that we consider valuable, and usually one person or object we view as having supreme worth. The question is never “Will a person worship?” but rather “Who or what will he or she worship?”Worship is an integral part of life at Sauble Christian Fellowship, where we encourage daily, personal, honest communication with God. Although music and singing are highly recognized forms of worship, we strive to make worshiping God a lifestyle, not just an activity. Prayer, reading God’s Word, service to others and even mundane daily activities can be opportunities for us to communicate freely and openly with the God who loves us!Our Sunday morning services follow two distinct formats – contemporary and traditional. Our contemporary service (9:00 a.m.) highlights a full praise band, which strives to lead the congregation into God’s presence through meaningful praise and heartfelt worship music. At our traditional service (10:45 a.m.) you can hear the timeless words of the great hymn-writers, and join in singing simple choruses of thanksgiving and praise.Whether you prefer contemporary praise, or traditional worship, at S.C.F. we want to serve you by leading you into the presence of God, where you can meet with Him, and fellowship with Him along with other believers.“Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts.” Eph. 5:19Tammy Kroezen, Worship Overseer Sauble Christian Fellowship

Ken began working with Sauble Christian Fellowship in the spring of 2007 on a volunteer basis. In September he officially assumed the role as Youth Director on a part-time basis and as of July 2008 joined our team full-time. Having grown up in the area, he is well acquainted with the needs and challenges facing today’s youth. Ken & Jenna were married in April of 2009 and serve together now. After completing some schooling in August 2010, Ken is now a licenced minister with the Brethren in Christ Church. With a strong desire to see youth grow in their walk with God and live biblically based lives, they devote themselves to the youth ministry of Sauble and the surrounding area. If you are looking for a church home we would love to have you out to worship with us!!
Small GroupsSmall groups are important for a number of reasons. Below are listed a few of them and why we believe they are an important part of any believers walk.Small Groups provide a spiritual safety net for the members: Through prayer and praying for one another, through the hearing of God"s word.Small Groups provide friendships and encouragement: Here you can experience an atmosphere of trust and safety with the other members as you build relationships with them.Small Groups provide accountability to the members: As you get to know the other members you will develop a relationship of accountability with them, helping you to stay pure and faithful in your Christian walk and to help you overcome sin. For more information on any of our Small Groups please visit our

LightThe image of our lighthouse is significant. The lighthouse symbolizes a beacon of light, a beacon of light for the lost. The body of Christ that founded Sauble Christian Fellowship could see a strong parallel between the ‘Light of the World, and the light houses that once graced the Lake Huron shoreline. The lights of the lighthouses saved countless lives. They were lights that cut through dark, foggy, gloomy nights, beckoning souls on the sea home to safety and security. When a sailor saw the light of the lighthouse, he was saved from shipwreck and subsequent loss of life upon the rocks. The light that shines from within Sauble Christian Fellowship is the body of Jesus Christ reflecting the light from that ‘Light of the World’. Like that of the lighthouses his light is strong. He beckons those who are threatened with the shipwreck of their lives and potential spiritual death to find safety, security and hope.John 8:12When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”.Psalm 119:105Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.Matthew 5:14-16“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it givens light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven”.Isaiah 42:6“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.” HopeThe same way that a runway is lit in the darkness to ensure a safe landing for the airplane and all passengers onboard, the light that is in SCF beckons believers and non-believers to come in to safety. There is no need to worry about walking through those doors. There is nothing but hope on the other side.Hope is a desire we confidently expect to be fulfilled. And as believers we know that when we belong to Jesus Christ, our hope of eternal life is certain. This is the Hope we all search for and it is the purpose of the light that shines from within Sauble Christian Fellowship – to safely guide those who are searching for this hope.Ephesians 2:11-13“Remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called uncircumcised, remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ”.1 Peter 1:3-5Praise be to the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into a inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. Our Hope in God is knowing that we will be with Him forever after we die – in a life that is better than this one. A place where there is no more darkness, no pain or sorrow - only the “Light of the world”. And the only way to live with Him, to bask in the glow of the “Light of the world” is to know this precious truth:Jesus said, ““I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me…” (John 14:6 NLT)And“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it” (John 3:16&17 NLT)
A BRIEF HISTORY OF SAUBLE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIPEarly in 1991 a group of five couples began meeting together at Sauble Beach in the home of Dee and Ernie Benson on Sunday evenings for prayer and fellowship. At first, their goal was to have a weekly Bible Study, but soon they felt the Lord"s leading to start a church in Sauble Beach that would have a strong Biblically-based evangelical focus.Their heart"s desire was that visitors to this church would hear the gospel and respond to God"s love for them, accepting His forgiveness for sin and offer of eternal life in heaven with Him.By June of 1991, the Sunday evening services were being held in the local fire hall, under the affiliation of Village Missions. In July, Chris Frey and family arrived from Village Missions to pastor the work. By fall, regular services were being held both morning and evening. By July 1992 the morning services were relocated to the Community Centre, with the evening meeting still at the Sauble fire hall. In July 1993, the Frey family was re-assigned elsewhere and a decision was made to withdraw from Village Missions. As an independent group, the church was pastored by Rev. Andy Black until March 1996, when he retired from ministry. Rev. Bruce Amy then served as interim pastor. Several other faithful guests, such as Rev. Harold Catto, Rev. Wilson Wiley and others, graciously filled the pulpit as the need arose. In April 1996, an invitation to join the Brethren in Christ was received and unanimously accepted by the church in August. The BIC affiliation has brought a rich heritage of oversight, support and resources. In October 1996, Tim Harden was chosen to serve as Pastor. As the group began to increase in numbers, arrangements were made to hold the Sunday services in the new Amabel-Sauble Community School beginning in August 31,1997 and remaining there until moving to the church’s own new facility in December 2004.THE BUILDING PROGRAMDuring the early years the service were consistently held in rented facilities but the vision of the church was to eventually own their own building. In 1999 the church took a significant step toward its ownership goal by purchasing a prime building site at 25 Southampton Parkway, just south of the lights in Sauble Beach.Following the acquisition of the property in 1999, it was decided to proceed with the building project in three Phases; Phase I being the purchase of property; Phase II being the renovation of the existing structure to house the offices, a kitchen and meeting room; and Phase III being the construction of the main building. With the completion of Phase II in April 2000, the office moved from a Main street rental location into the new quarters. Now midweek meetings could also be held in the church’s own facilities. The vision for Phase III remained strong, plans were reviewed and eventually the decision was made to build a multi-purpose facility. This design allows a wide variety of sports and recreational programs to be held in the main area while at the same time providing a worship auditorium for Sunday Services.Phase III actually began with the removal of the old warehouse in the winter of 2004, and new construction was underway in the spring with the assistance of a massive work team from a sister church in Pennsylvania. Contractors and volunteers who donated over nine thousand hours of labour worked diligently and by Christmas Eve the church moved into the new building. On May 22 2005, the congregation rejoiced in the provision of God and celebrated with a grand opening and dedication of the new facility. June 2006 was another milestone with the burning of the mortgage.PASTORAL TRANSITIONSIn June of 1999, Andrew Nelson joined Pastor Tim as his associate and provided effective ministry until he accepted a call to be a senior pastor in Chatham in August 2002. David Oppertshauser replaced Andrew as Tim Harden’s associate until Tim relocated to pastor a church in Rosebank. in November of 2006. With Tim’s departure, David was asked to assume the senior pastor role. Sept 2007, Ken Holley joined the ministry as Youth Pastor. MOVING FORWARDThe church’s mission: Sauble Christian Fellowship exists to glorify God through worship, evangelism, discipleship, care and nurture of the whole person. The church’s goal is to be a community-minded church ministering to the spiritual needs of all ages. There are two services on Sunday mornings, a contemporary service at 9 and a traditional service at 10:45, each with nursery facilities and age appropriate venue for the children. There are several activities throughout the week. For example, Kids Club – a program for children, Jr.Youth - A program for Grade 6-8 students, Sr.Youth Group - A program for High School Students, various small groups, a senior’s ministry, Bible studies and prayer times. There is an active mission’s committee, and several from the church take part in mission trips to foreign countries throughout the year.We look forward to finding new and innovative ways in which to accomplish our mandate as the Lord leads and prospers us in the days that lie ahead.

Giving Philosophy:When you visit Sauble Christian Fellowship, one thing that you might find different is that we do not usually take up an offering for our operational needs. A longstanding policy that we continue is that we believe that giving needs to be Holy Spirit led, with an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. Members of the family and visitors may contribute by placing donations in the lighthouse located at the back of the sanctuary.“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” - 2 Corinthians 9:7If you are a guest with us, please feel NO obligation to contribute.Other Ways to Give:Sauble Christian Fellowship is setup to accept pre-authorized automatic bank transfers which is a great way to make sure God is getting the first fruits, and not just the mushy bananas leftover. Contact the office if you would like to have this setup for you.Donations via the website is also another safe and convenient way to contribute to the ministry. Visit the
Online Giving section of our site to find out how you can contribute, and some of the different ministries you can contribute to.Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Our MissionSauble Christian Fellowship exists to glorify God through worship, evangelism, discipleship, careand nurture of the whole person. Our Goal:Sauble Christian Fellowship’s goal is to be a community minded church, ministering to the spiritual needs of people of all ages. Here are some of the ways we try to meet this goal:Each Sunday we hold two morning services. The first is at 9am with contemporary music that generally is more appealing to the younger set. The second is at 11:00am and features more traditional hymns and choruses. The message from the Word is the same at both services.Nursery and children’s church are offered during both the Sunday morning services to allow parents to relax and enjoy the worship time and message from the Word.Community Outreach programs occur at different times throughout the year. These are used to proclaim our message of hope and bless our community in practical ways. Stay tuned to the web site, or call the office for dates and related specifics. We believe in doing life together. Small groups are active throughout the year in a number of locations and with a variety of study themes. We offer counselling and support for those going through difficult timesWe understand that our children and Youth are our church tomorrow. We offer a kids club on Monday nights during the school year for kids JK to G5, as well as a Youth program for students in grades 7 - 12 on Wednesday nights. We also believe in obeying our Lord’s great commission to take the message of hope to the world community. We support missionaries in foreign countries and encourage our people to be involved in missions projects at home and abroad. Our People Philosophy:It is obvious that the Lord has chosen to work through people throughout history. Our role is to organize, train, equip and mobilize the human resources God has given to execute our mission and extend His Kingdom. There is much to be done. As each person, whether member or supporter, accepts the challenge of leading or serving, they should constantly remind themselves that they are an integral part of our mission, and a servant of the King.
