Light | The image of our lighthouse is significant. The lighthouse symbolizes a beacon of light, a beacon of light for the lost.
The body of Christ that founded Sauble Christian Fellowship could see a strong parallel between the ‘Light of the World, and the light houses that once graced the Lake Huron shoreline. The lights of the lighthouses saved countless lives. They were lights that cut through dark, foggy, gloomy nights, beckoning souls on the sea home to safety and security. When a sailor saw the light of the lighthouse, he was saved from shipwreck and subsequent loss of life upon the rocks.
The light that shines from within Sauble Christian Fellowship is the body of Jesus Christ reflecting the light from that ‘Light of the World’. Like that of the lighthouses his light is strong. He beckons those who are threatened with the shipwreck of their lives and potential spiritual death to find safety, security and hope.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it givens light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven”.
Isaiah 42:6 “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.” | | | HopeThe same way that a runway is lit in the darkness to ensure a safe landing for the airplane and all passengers onboard, the light that is in SCF beckons believers and non-believers to come in to safety. There is no need to worry about walking through those doors. There is nothing but hope on the other side.
Hope is a desire we confidently expect to be fulfilled. And as believers we know that when we belong to Jesus Christ, our hope of eternal life is certain. This is the Hope we all search for and it is the purpose of the light that shines from within Sauble Christian Fellowship – to safely guide those who are searching for this hope.
Ephesians 2:11-13 “Remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called uncircumcised, remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ”.
1 Peter 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into a inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
Our Hope in God is knowing that we will be with Him forever after we die – in a life that is better than this one. A place where there is no more darkness, no pain or sorrow - only the “Light of the world”. And the only way to live with Him, to bask in the glow of the “Light of the world” is to know this precious truth:
Jesus said, ““I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me…” (John 14:6 NLT)
And
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it” (John 3:16&17 NLT)
